Eye care

Dip wads of cotton in a chilled mixture of cucumber and potato juice. Keep this on your eyelids for 15 to 20 minutes and gently wash it off. Apply a little baby oil.
For long eyelashes.., apply a thin coat of castor oil every night. It strengthens lashes and cools your eyes.

Massage a few drops of coconut oil around the eyes to get rid off dark circles.

To reduce puffiness of your eyes, grate a potato; tie in a cloth and place the cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes.

Add a small pinch of salt in water and wash for bright and sparkling eyes.

Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in equal quantity and apply around the eyes. After 30 minutes wash it off with cold and hot water alternatively.

Make a paste of sandal wood and nutmeg. Apply the paste around the eyes before sleeping and wash it off in the morning.

Crush a cucumber and take the juice. Add a little rose water and apply around the eyes and wash it after 30 minutes.

Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on closed eyes for removing dark circles.

Body Care

Mix six-teaspoon petroleum jelly, two-teaspoon glycerin and two-teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this moisturizing lotion at least twice a week if you have dry and flaky, arms and legs

Peel and grate a cucumber. Squeeze the juice to this, mix half-a-teaspoon glycerin and half-a-teaspoon rose water. Apply this on sunburns, leave it for some time.

If you have cracked heels, melt paraffin wax; mix it with little mustard oil and apply on the affected area. Leave it overnight. After 10 or 15 days, your heels will become smooth.

Massage your body with a mixture of coconut oil and any of your favourite scented oils like lavender or rosemary.
For rough palms, use a mixture of glycerin and limejuice in equal proportion.

For cracked heals, massage the foot with coconut oil and keep the foot in warm water for some time. Wipe the water off the feet and apply a mixture of hibiscus flower(10), Henna (1 handful) and juice of half a lemon. when dry wash it off.

Remove scars on your hands and feet by rubbing them with lemon peel.

Do not shampoo your hair everyday. Hair that has not been washed for a day or two is easier to style. Infact washing your hair once every two or three days will actually make your hair healthy. Washing your hair everyday robs hair of essential oils and dries your scalp and hair.

If you have oily hair squirt water at the roots. Water adds lift to the hair roots. You can sprinkle some baby powder to the roots of the hair as well. For dry coarse hair condition the ends of your hair well every time you wash them.

If you want to tie your hair up in a bun, keep the bun loose. Finger comb your hair into a low disheveled bun.

For sexy wavy hair use a sea salt spray. Mix sea salts in water and fill a spray bottle. Squirt sea salt on damp hair, scrunch your hair and let it air dry. As most of us have hair that has a natural wave and the sea salts will bring it out.

While blow-drying your hair finger comb your hair and separate the tangles with your fingers. Dry your hair in this manner till your hair is almost dry and then use a brush.

Bangs are the in thing. Layering hair with bangs is the perfect hairstyle. Keep the bangs thick and heavy or choose side-swept bangs. Side-swept bangs paired with long layers look beautiful.
Coloring your hair is another hair treatment option.

1) A facemask of egg white and honey gently removes the tan from your face.

2) Mix oats with honey, yogurt and ground almonds. Apply this in your face, leave it for five minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

3) Cucumber is a natural cleanser. Mix cucumber juice with milk and use it instead of a cleanser.

4) Take 1/3-cup cocoa, three teaspoons of heavy cream, 1/3-cup ripe papaya, 1/4-cup honey and three teaspoons of oatmeal powder. Mix it all together. Apply on your face. After 10 minutes, wash your face with warm water. This is best for oily skin

5) For oily skin, apply a mixture of grapes, lemon and egg white. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. While lemon acts as a natural cleanser, grapes will soften your skin and egg whites will tighten it. Don’t be alarmed if your skin tingles.
Cut the lemon and rub the wedge all over your face. Leave it for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water. This will refresh your face. Avoid doing this if you have dry skin.

6) Mix honey, lemon and vegetable oil .This mixture is a good moisturiser for dry skin. Apply this mask for 10 minutes. Apply the mixture of honey and milk on the face . This will make your skin glow.

7) Prepare a mask by mixing a slice of pumpkin with egg yolk and milk. Let this mask set on your face for 30 minutes for a glowing skin.

8) Mix half-a-cup honey to your bath water for soft and smooth skin.

9) For a soothing body pack, prepare a paste of mint leaves and almonds. Mix it with warm water and apply all over your body. Leave it till it dries and rinse with warm water.

10) Buttermilk dabbed on skin for 15 minutes will soak up oil from your skin without drying it.

11) Carrot juice applied daily fades blemishes.

12) For dark underarms and neck apply lemon juice mixed with cucumber juice and a pinch of turmeric daily. Leave this on for 20 minutes.

13)For removing facial hair.. Apply a sticky paste of egg white blended with sugar and corn flour. When it dries, gently peel it off. Repeat this three to four times a week.

14) Thin apple slices rubbed onto oily skin will help in controlling oily shine.

15) For supple skin, apply a ripe smashed banana on your face for 20 minutes daily.

16) Cauliflower juice applied on warts regularly will make them fall.

17) For a fair skin, try this natural bleach. Mix orange peels (sun dried and powdered) with milk. Apply this paste for 25 minutes and wash off.

18) Mix half teaspoon dried curry leaf powder with multani mitti (fullers earth) and apply on the face. Wash it after it gets dry.
Apply the mixture of tomato juice and honey on the face and neck , wash it after 15 minutes.

19) Apply the mixture of carrot juice and basin. Leave it till it dries and wash the face.

20) Add two teaspoon of tomato juice with 4 teaspoon of curd and apply on the face.

21) Add a pinch of yeast with 2 teaspoon of cabbage juice and apply.

22) Mix 1 table spoon of barley powder with half teaspoon of lime juice and 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply it on the face and wash after 20 minutes.

23) Mix pineapple juice and carrot juice together and apply it on the face and wash it after 15 minutes.

24) Mix vinegar and rose water in equal quantities and apply.
Mix curd and cucumber juice and apply it on the face.

25) Apply the mixture of coconut water and thick pineapple juice.
Make a paste with 1/2 teaspoon of milk powder, 1/4 teaspoon of egg white and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and apply on the face.

26) For dry skin, Make a paste with egg yolk, olive oil and lemon juice. Apply it on the neck and face, wash it out after 10 minutes.
For oily skin, take a mixture of oatmeal and egg white and apply it on the neck and face

27) For glowing skin, use basin or green gram powder mixed with milk instead of soap.

28) Apply the mixture of raw turmeric and cream of milk on the face and wash it after 20 minutes. It will make your skin fair.
Apply the mixture of honey, basin, cream of milk and olive oil as a face pack.

29) Apply the paste of fenugreek with milk on the face and let it dry. Wash off with luke warm water.

30) Make a paste of red sandal wood and apply it on the face every day for glowing skin.

31) Make a paste with red sandal powder and coconut milk and apply on the face for soft skin.

Herbal Ways for Lightening the Skin

Following are the Herbal ways for lightening the skin:

Make sandalwood paste and mix with rose water and apply it on the face daily.

Turmeric powder could also be mixed with sandal wood paste and can be applied on face daily.
Apply the seeds of grapes on face and neck.

Make a paste of grinded almonds and rose water to make a fine paste and apply it on face and neck. This brings glow on the face.

Make a mixture of grinded cucumber and mix it with coconut water and then apply on face.

Soak four of almonds overnight. Grind them after removing their skin till they become fine.
Add 1½ teaspoon of gram flour or besan, 1 teaspoon of fresh milk and four drops of lime juice. Make a paste and apply it on the face. Massage gently the face after 15 minutes till the paste comes off. Rinse with warm water and then followed by cold splashes.

Soak raw potato slices in cold water for 10 minutes. Rub these slices over face, neck

Carrot and Milk Cream Anti-Wrinkle Face Pack

  • 1 Carrot, Grated
  • 3 Tbsp Whole Milk Cream

Put these ingredients in a blender to make a thick paste. Apply on your face and neck and rinse off after 20 minutes. Doing this once a week can definitely help you get rid of wrinkles and fine lines.

I also use avocado generously on my skin. It keeps my skin baby soft and moisturized.

  • 5-6 Fresh Blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Yogurt
  • 3 Tbsp Ground Almonds

HERE IS SOME TIPS FOR GLOW ON SKIN:-
For dry skin: Mix half teaspoon honey with the yolk of an egg and one tablespoon dried milk powder. Mix into a paste and apply. Remove after 20 minutes with water.
For oily skins: Mix half teaspoon honey with egg white and oneteaspoon lemon juice. Add fuller' a
For oily skin and enlarged: Add lemon juice and a littlemilk to oatmeal. Apply the paste and remove after 20 minutes with water. Do not use if there are eruptions.
For oily and combination skins: Mix one tablespoon yoghurt withfuller's earth and apply. Yoghurt itself can be applied on the face. It helps to soften the skin and restores the natural acid mantle.
For blackheads: Add the white of an egg to oatmeal and apply for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove with water, rubbing gently.

For sunburn: Add a little lemon juice to milk and apply with cotton wool. Mayonnaise can also be applied by itself. It helps to soothe sunburn.
For skin cleansing: Make a pulp of raw papaya and apply. Papaya has a cleansing action, softening dead skin cells and aiding their removal.

Never pick pimples for if you do so they leave scars.

INGREDIENTS 1/2 cup rose, lavender, or distilled water 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin 1/4 to 1 teaspoon almond oil 12 drops grapefruit seed extract 5 to 10 drops essential oil for fragrance (optional)

Make rose or lavender water by placing a handful of dried lavender or rose petals in a glass mason jar and cover with boiling water. Seal and set overnight. Strain. Combine all the ingredients in a pretty jar and shake to blend. Note that vegetable glycerin is available in health food stores, as is grapefruit seed extract

2/3 cup fresh papaya, mashed
15 oz. can pure pumpkin
1 egg, beaten

1. Prepare the mask. Cut the papaya in half and scoop out the seeds. Scoop out the papaya fruit and mash it well to eliminate lumps in the mask. Beat the egg until it is frothy. Combine that with the papaya. Add the pumpkin to the egg/papaya mixture and whip together. You can also mix the ingredients in the blender or a food processor for an extra smooth mask.

2. Prepare your face. Wash with your daily cleanser and remove all residual makeup on your skin. Rinse with warm water. It's very important to have clean skin to ensure you get maximum benefits from the facial.

3. Apply the Mask. Cover your entire face, being careful to avoid the immediate eye area. If you have sensitive skin, test the mixture on your hand before spreading it on your face. You'll feel some tingling as the enzymes in the pumpkin go to work immediately -- gently exfoliating your top layer of skin. It works like a scrub without being abrasive to your skin. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes.

BLEMISHED SKIN MASK
1 Tomato, ripe, chopped
1 tsp Lemon juice
1 T Instant style oatmeal or old-fashioned rolled oats
Blend everything until just combined. Apply to skin, making sure the mixture is thick enough to stay on blemished areas: cheeks, forehead, or chin. If necessary, add a bit more oatmeal to thicken the mask. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then scrub it off with a clean washcloth dipped in warm water.

  • Lemon is the best thing available in our kitchen to reduce the marks and blemishes from the skin. It can be applied directly on the skin or can be mixed in many other things and packs to be applied on the skin.
  • You can rub a lemon peel on the skin with a little sugar on it or without the sugar. After rubbing it leave it on the skin for at least 10 minutes. If you practice this regularly you can reduce the acne and pimple marks finely.
  • Here is a homemade pack, which reduces the blemishes from the skin and improves the complexion. Take two spoonful of gram flour ( Besun ), add a pinch of turmeric ( Haldi ) to it as turmeric have some agents in it which reduces the marks, few drops of lemon juice and make a paste with a spoonful of curd. Apply this pack on the face regularly and you will notice drastic changes in your skin.

  • You can rub a papaya ( papeeta ) peel and banana peel on the skin and leave it for at least 15 minutes. It reduces the lemishes from the skin.
  • Honey added in milk powder helps in reducing the blemishes if applied on the skin.
  • If you have real dark blemishes on the skin make a powder of dry lemon peels and orange peels. You can keep this powder for further usage. Whenever you want add some rose water or curd water to it and apply on the skin. Its regular usage reduces the spots and blemishes from the skin.
  • A paste of honey and turmeric ( Haldi ) reduces the marks if applied on the skin regularly.
  • For better and fast results you can apply grated potato on your skin. Leave it on at least for 30 minutes. Rinse off with water after 30 minutes. Try this at least once a week to reduce the marks.
  • Orange abstracts are very useful for the skin and reducing the marks and in evening out the skin tone. You can dry orange peels in the sun and make a powder of it. Apply this powder by making a paste of it on the skin with rose water, milk cream or curd. It lightens the skin tone also.

  • Soak almonds ( Badam ) in water overnight. In the morning peel them off, make a paste and add some honey and lemon juice to it. It you apply this everyday on your skin for 15 minutes; you can get a beautiful blemish free skin with a clear complexion.

To Cleanse the Pores:

Rub mashed tomato on your face and rinse with cool water. If your like me, you've thrown many tomatoes away. Don't! You may not want to eat it, but it will be fine for your skin treatment if it's not completely rotten. Just use the best of what is left because you only need a small amount.
Note: Some people find that tomatoes will irritate the skin. If so, try mashed grapes instead!

To Tighten and Refine Pores:
Whip the white of an egg and add a pinch of alum (drug store) and apply to the skin as a mask. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse off with warm water. (never hot water!)

Peel and slice 1/2 a cucumber and puree in a blender or processor. Add 1 TBSP of plain yogurt. Mix well and apply to skin. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes then wipe off with a damp wash cloth or rinse with warm water. Cucumber contains amino and organic acids. This blend will cool, refresh skin and tighten pores.

To Remove Dead Surface Skin Cells and Improve Skin Texture:
Gently rub a small handful of dry short grain rice against you face for a few minutes. This is a Japanese technique that has been used for centuries.

Add 2 TBSP of cornmeal mixed with enough water to make a thick paste. Gently rub on face in circular motions and rinse off. This makes a quick, inexpensive exfoliant.

Grind 1 TBSP of almonds into a fine meal. Mix with 1 TBSP of honey and 1 egg white. Apply to skin and allow to dry for 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with wash cloth and rinse face with lukewarm water.

Grind up oatmeal in blender or processor to a fine powder. Add water to make a paste. Apply to skin and let dry, then gently remove with a damp wash cloth and rinse skin with tepid (lukewarm) water. This paste should not be runny. If you add too much water, add more oatmeal. A little goes a long way and this mixture can be used anywhere on the body for rashes, dry-itchy skin, or bug bites. I grind up 1/2 to 3/4 cup of oatmeal and store it in a baby food jar.

To Stimulate Circulation and Firm the Skin:
Combine 1/2 of a peeled cucumber, 1 TBSP of yogurt, a few strawberries, and 1 tsp. of honey in a blender or processor. Make a puree. Apply to face and let dry (or set well). Gently wipe off with a wet wash cloth and rinse skin well. This is a great all-around home facial recipe and treatment.

To Loosen Blackheads:
Combine equal parts baking soda and water in hand and gently rub in a circular motion on skin and rinse. As with any exfoliating type product, it is very important to not apply too much pressure. You do not want to scratch the skin. Instead, you want just a smooth circular motion with very little pressure and let the product do it's thing. Do not use scratchy or exfoliating products on irritated, inflamed or broken skin such as a wound, cut, inflamed acne or rash.

Refreshing Fruit Facials

Facial Mask with banana, honey.
1 ripe ripe Banana
1 T Honey
1/2 teaspoon Jojoba oil
1 T Yogurt
1 egg white
1 T Kaolin (white) clay


In a small mixing bowl, whisk the egg white, then blend in the Yogurt, Jojoba oil, Honey and then the Kaolin clay until it becomes a smooth creamy mixture. In a separate bowl, mash up the banana until it is smooth, then blend into the first mixture.

The best way to use this masque is while sitting in the tub because it is a bit messy. Apply to the entire face, neck and shoulder area. As it sits, keep applying more while you build the masque up as well as massage it in. Let sit for at least 10-15 minutes and then remove with a warm washcloth. Finish with a tonic or hydrosol on a cotton ball to remove any excess product from the skin, then moisturize as usual.

This is a wonderful softening and firming treatment in one.

PEACH TIGHTENING MASK
1 Peach, ripe, peeled, pitted
1 Egg white
Whip the peach and egg white together in a blender until smooth. Gently pat the mixture all over your face. Relax for 30 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water.

APPLE MASK FOR NORMAL SKIN
1 Apple, cored & quartered
2 T Honey
Drop the apple pieces into a food processor and chop. Add honey and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Pat the mixture onto your face with a light tapping motion, tapping until the honey feels tacky. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse.

CUCUMBER MASK FOR OILY SKIN
1/2 Cucumber
1 Egg white
1 T Lemon juice
1 tsp mint
Puree everything and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm, then cool water.

STRAWBERRY DRAWING MASK
1/2 c Strawberries, very ripe
1/4 c Cornstarch
Mix strawberries and cornstarch together to make a paste and apply it to your face, avoiding the delicate area around your eyes. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water.

CITRUS FRESHENER
2 cups boiling water
1 vitamin C (a preservative)
Lemon peel (zest) from 2 lemons
Dissolve the vitamin in water. In a glass bowl put the lemon zest and pour the water over them. Let it sit over night. Remove the zest and put in a spray bottle. You can use any type of citrus peel.

BLEMISHED SKIN MASK
1 Tomato, ripe, chopped
1 tsp Lemon juice
1 T Instant style oatmeal or old-fashioned rolled oats

Blend everything until just combined. Apply to skin, making sure the mixture is thick enough to stay on blemished areas: cheeks, forehead, or chin. If necessary, add a bit more oatmeal to thicken the mask. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then scrub it off with a clean washcloth dipped in warm water.

  • Apply a paste of fresh ground mint leaves and leave it for about 20 minutes. Wash with cold water, continue for 15 days.
  • Applying turmeric powder along with lime juice removes the tan. Lime juice is a natural bleach.
  • Mix 1 tsp of milk powder, 1 tsp of honey, 1 tsp of lemon juice, and ½ tsp of almond oil. Apply on face and wash off after 10-15 minutes. This pack helps bring shine to the skin and also removes tan.
  • Place sliced raw potato on the face. It helps reduce blemishes and other marks.
  • Soak 4 almonds overnight. Grind into a fine paste using milk. Apply on face and neck and leave it overnight. Wash with cold water in the morning. Do this daily for 15 days, followed by twice a week.
  • Apply a mixture of grated tomato with 2-3 drops of lime juice on the face. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing off. Do this twice a day for 15-20 days for best results.

  • Make a paste with two raw plantain and a table spoon of honey. Apply this pack on the face for 20 minutes and wash it when it becomes dry

  • Make a paste with a gauva and a spoon of honey. Apply on the face and wash after 20 minutes.

  • Whisk one egg white till it thickness, then whisk in 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil. Apply on the face for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water

  • Fresh Cream

  • Ripe Strawberry - 2

Make a paste with the strawberry and mix it with fresh cream. Apply it on the face and wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes.

Facial Pack For Oily Skin

  • Peel two apples and make a paste with one table spoon of honey. Apply it on the face. Wash out after 20 minutes

  • Apply a paste of a fully ripe tomato on the face and wash it after 20 minutes

  • Mix 2 teaspoon of Fullers earth with 2 teaspoon of chilled rose water to a thick paste. Apply on the face with a brush, avoiding the delicate areas around the eyes. Leave it on for about 20 minutes or till completely dry. Rinse with warm water. The results is a pinkish youthful skin.

    Facial scrub for oily skin

    This scrub helps to get rid of the dirt and the superficial dead skin but it should not be used more than once a week and never on dry skin. Mix 2 teaspoon of fine bran with a quarter of dried yeast and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice along with a table spoon of water. Gently massage the thick paste so formed in the skin, particularly on and around the nose and the chin area, using a soft brush; avoid applying around the eyes. Wash off after 1-2 minute using warm water.

    Tonic for oily skin

    Whisk one egg white until it thickens, then whisk in 1 teaspoon of honey. Finally add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply to your face and neck avoiding the delicate eye and lip areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash with warm water.

    Lemon Mask For Oily Skin

  • Lemon - 1/2 piece

  • Oatmeal - 1/2 cup

  • Egg White - 1

Make a fine paste with egg white lemon and oatmeal. Apply it on the face. After it get dry wash the face in hot water.

NORMAL SKIN

Facial Pack For Normal Skin

Take the juice of cucumber. Mix milk powder and egg white in this juice. Apply it on the face. After it get dry, wash it out in cold water.

Anti- aging mask for blotchy wrinkled skin

This can be applied frequently. Mix 2 table spoons of oatmeal with half cup of milk and cook gently till it becomes soft. Stir in 2 teaspoons of olive oil and beat together. Allow to cool and then spread it over the face and neck. Leave it on, for about 25 minutes and then rinse with luke warm water.


FACE PACK WITH ROSE

  • Rose Petals - 5 (to be ground)

  • Multanimitti (fullers earth) - 11/2 teaspoon

  • Powdered Dried Orange Peals - a pinch

  • White of an egg - 1/2

  • Rose Petals soaked water - as required

    Make a paste with the above ingredients. Steam the face and apply the pack. Clean the face after 15 minutes.

    ROSE CREAM

  • Rose Petals - 5

  • Lime water - 5 drops

  • Gram Powder - 2 spoons

  • Herbal Turmeric Powder - 2pinch

Make a fine paste of the above ingredients with some water. Clean the face and apply the paste. After 20 minutes wash it off with milk and again clean the face with pure water. When the process is repeated for 15 days, the face will become soft and smooth.

Rose cream is also used for the clearing of black spots left after the pimples.

Carrot face pack

Grind a carrot and make it as a paste. Bleach the face with a lemon. After this, apply the paste of carrot on the face and wash after 20 minutes.
You can use orange juice instead of lemon juice. If your skin is dry, then add the paste of tomato and a little almond with carrot.


PRE APPLICATION HINTS

  • Clean the face with any cleansing lotion.

  • If the skin is dry, apply any moisturiser before using the face pack.

  • Pin the hair up fully or cover it with a cloth so that it won't come over your face.

  • Apply the mask equally on all parts of the face except eyes and lips

  • See that you don't make any movements to your face after you have applied the mask. (like speaking, laughing etc)
