Turmeric Face Pack..

Using a face mask is beneficial in cleansing, smoothing and improving the appearance of your skin. While store-bought face masks can be pricey, you can make your own using a spice you likely have in your cupboard. Turmeric is effective in treating acne and removing its blemishes, as well as in giving your skin an attractive glow. Make this turmeric face mask and enjoy its healing and beautifying effect.

Things You'll Need

2 tsp. gram flour
1/4 tsp. turmeric
Milk
Honey

1) Go to an Indian supermarket or a health food store to purchase gram flour. This flour goes by several different names like chickpea flour, garbanzo bean flour or besan, so look around carefully and ask the staff for help finding the right flour. If you can't get gram flour, you can use regular all-purpose flour instead.

2) Combine 2 tsp. gram flour and ¼ tsp. turmeric in a small bowl. Once these dry ingredients are well-mixed, slowly add several drops of milk and honey. Stir the mixture as you add the milk and honey, and judge the appropriate amounts by the mixture's consistency. You've added enough milk and honey when the mixture becomes a paste.

3) Wash your face thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure you remove all residue makeup so the turmeric face mask can properly penetrate your skin

4) Apply the turmeric paste to your entire face in an even layer, avoiding your eyes. Let the face mask sit for about 10 minutes.

5) Wipe off the bulk of the turmeric face mask with your fingers, then rinse your face with warm water to remove the rest.

Tips & Warnings

In Hindu weddings, the bride rubs turmeric paste over her arms and face before the ceremony. This traditional paste recipe is slightly different to the turmeric face mask, including ½ cup gram flour, 2 tsp. turmeric, 2 tsp. sandalwood powder, 2 tsp. almond oil and water to form a paste.

I think, you also should point out to Anglo- Saxon sisters..the consideration that Turmeric STAINS! Bright sunflower yellow,ladies..It is widely used as a natural food colouring and dye, and boy, does it..It can stain facecloths, white towels, your bathrobe, the sink and the bathroom door if you're not careful, wipe it off IMMEDIATELY if it you get it anywhere you don't want it,and wear an old robe or t-shirt if you're planning on using turmeric, treat it like henna, and with caution...
My words of warning: If you have WHITE skin,DO NOT apply Turmeric preparations to your face or hands if you have a hot date, a job interview or are planning on going out in public for days, unless you don't mind looking like you're in advanced stages of liver failure..! Your skin can stain yellow.. Test it on the back of your hand if you don't believe me,or are worried at all,and I suggest a simple alternative of almond flour and water..Turmeric has many wonderful properties, but turmeric powder really can stain yellow and it can be hard to shift !

I have been using turmeric on my skin at the advice of an Indian friend, for nice skin and also hair inhibitor properties. Just like the warning, I'm blonde haired, fair skinned, and a victim of the yellow stain! Like a highlighter drawn everywhere on my face and arms that it touched. A TIP for you: soap hardly affected it, but when I used my Mary Kay facewash it took all the yellow away. Mary Kay

Original Tumeric never leave any yellow stains on skin. But if Tumeric contains any artifical colors then for sure you will have yellow stains.

One more option is - Use Tumeric + Gram Flour + Yogurt. This will help to avoid yellow stains.

Hi there,
Pure turmeric powder will not leave any yellow stains.
I am using turmeric powder with multhani mitti mixed with water. Becoz turmeric deminishes the acne scars and multhani mitti to control oily skin and to make the skin tight. This formula is really working for me...

I'm a little confused on the comments that only turmeric with artificial ingredients will stain, because I buy turmeric root and grate it into foods and it stains my hands and counter, but seems to wash off my hands easier than the counter.Maybe there are different types of turmeric root with different coloring effects?

I used fresh lemon juice to get rid of stains and it worked really well. Bonus: it's good for your skin.

Use the raw turmeric (it kinda looks like ginger)..it does not stain. Do not use the turmeric available in packets in stores, they contain artificial colours which stain your skin.
